Fund Essential Equipment and Technology
The department continuously identifies essential needs to better serve the community and improve efficiency, but current operations budgets do not always allow for these expenses. With support from our community, Since 2019, the Foundation has raised over $4.4 million dollars. Our efforts have helped to purchase a Police K-9 Dog for the bomb squad, youth programming, camera gear, lifesaving equipment, and assisting the department with community engagement to name a few. 90.7% of Foundation functional expenses have been distributed to our programs over the past five fiscal years.
Provide Financial Assistance to Employees and Their Families
The Foundation focuses on helping the Phoenix Police Department's sworn and non-sworn employees, and their loved ones, in crisis situations. This includes fundraising for families of fallen officers, providing living expenses in emergency situations, and Police Week travel expenses for the family and squad mates of fallen officers. The Phoenix Police Department has lost 45 Officers in the line of duty since 1925.
Recognize Those Who Demonstrate Exceptional Courage
Making sure that Phoenix Police Department employees and citizen volunteers feel valued is an important role of the Foundation. Each year the Foundation supports the annual Pride in Our Heroes awards ceremony, where individuals are recognized for their outstanding service to the community. The Foundation also hosts the annual Women in Blue celebration, where female law enforcement leaders are honored for their service.
